Another job on the line...

Another job was on the line. Steve McClaren lost his job as the manager of the English football team after FA carried out an emergency meeting when the English team failed to qualify for Euro Cup 2008 (for the first time since 1994).

To put it mildly, there was widespread shock, especially those who booked their place in their favorite pub, nursing their drink in front of that huge LCD TV. The English team just have to draw with the Croatia team, which has nothing to fight for since they have already qualified. The media reported that it'll mean billions of pounds lost in the economy with less beer flowing and LCD TV bought.

Singaporeans are besotted with the English League and because of that, there is this general impression that the English should be doing better than this. And we're not even talking about World Cup, this is merely the Euro Cup.
