Cheap chic....

The general consensus is that London's cost of living is higher than Singapore's. That's rubbish... it's way much higher. A pound is around 2.85 Singapore dollar so I would expect something that cost S$300 would cost around 100 quid. Believe me, it's much higher than that... not to mention the 17.5% VAT (value added tax). The 7% GST (goods and services) in Singapore becomes puny in comparison. Doesn't help that local Singapore food (or Malaysian for that matter) like Sambal tohu goreng goes for 11.50 quid (S$33!!) at Awana. It has become nothing short of a delicacy here...

But all is not lost and there's light at the end of the tunnel. If one looks hard enough, there are things here that's cheaper as compared to back home. Asda has launch a 5 quid (less than S$15) office wear for ladies.

Now, not even NTUC can beat that.
