Go see a dentist!

Visiting a dentist is not exactly my favorite activity. In fact, I don't think even a dentist enjoys having his/her teeth checked.

I recalled having my teeth checked up by the dentist that was based in my primary school when I was a kid. I'll never forget that ever sharp tool that was used for scaling. Just thinking of it makes me cringe.

Well, a survey conducted by the British Dental Health Foundation shows that thousands of Britons don't really care about dental hygiene and use 'hammers or screwdrivers' to clean their teeth. Honestly, I have no idea how they do it.

So the next time you face the dentist's scaler (that's what I call it), be thankful. It could have been a plier instead.

Gosh. Don't remind me about the dentist. I have an appointment next monday. i'm just glad dentistry has improved so much over the years that it is virtually patient-friendly now. :)

With regards to your tots question: I guess it's the innocence in tiny tots' eyes.

Gosh, how do you use screwdrivers to clean your teeth?

@jasmine shanea,
Patient friendly? You must let me know who you go to... :)

Tot's innocent eyes? Someone told me that he is used to staring at a toddler only because he wouldn't be beaten up for that! lol

@wenbin,
You're the doctor, you tell me :p

Must be using it to scrape off the plaque I supposed... :0

I dun like visiting my dentist even tho he's a really nice gentle guy. I really hate that scaling thing he does...the metal scraping sound against the teeth just makes my skin crawl. Neverthless, I make it a point to visit at least once or twice a year for maintenance.

It has taken me a year to find an NHS dentist in Lincolnshire and I am dreading next weeks visit. I had a tooth that kept getting an abcess and the emergency dentist refused to extract it and re filled it. Guess what another abcess formed. I was in such pain that I tried to remove it with pliers. I ended up breaking it off. Because there was'nt any tooth left to fill the dentist finally extracted it, which is what I wanted all along!

I drag myself for my bi-yearly check-up. My son scared of them, but lucky for me, my dentist tolerate children quite well.

I can assure you I am not one of the Britons using such tools to clean my teeth! I just can't imagine anyone doing that!

@my bug life,
When I was back home, my wife will drag me to visit the dentist. But the thought of the scrapping tool just makes me nervous...

@capybara,
Any idea how much a private dentist cost or if there one available in the first place?

I cannot even imagine how you managed to extract your teeth using a pair of pliers! You must be in real pain to have attempt that...

But glad to know that the tooth is not giving you any trouble now.

@ecl,
Ok, you're one of those 'normal' ones. Believe it or not, I know of someone who actually enjoys going to the dentist... :0

@sher.
Well, I guess we must all start to clean our teeth properly, yah? Does dental service cost much in Croatia?

@lina,
Haha... that's the common thing about dentist and barbers... all children hate them. :p

@ladybanana,
I'm sure you're not one of them. They probably use those tools to scrape the plaque off I supposed... :0
