Urinal on London streets

Was walking past Windmill Theatre (made famous by Mrs Henderson presents) the other day when I came across an interesting plastic sculpture… or at least I thought it was.

The plastic installation was placed on the pavement, which street was lined by pubs and filled with revellers.

On closer inspection, I discovered an curious sign on its side which looked somewhat familiar. That was when a chap came up to it, unzipped his pants and emptied his bladder. Judging by his expression, he would have gladly done that in the next alley if he hadn't found what apparently was the public gents.

There you go. If you had a drink and find yourself in need to relieve yourself, just step right up. That four sided plastic makeshift loo comes with urinals adjusted to different heights as well.

Ah…. how convenient it can get.

Hey I pissed into one of those when I was doing the Paris half marathon!! It was a sight to behold, prior to the race, men were just queuing up in full view of the masses to take a leak!

Oh.. I've seen some older urinals in SOHO. Can't remember the exact location. I recalled the first time I saw those stinky things I thought they were sinks for washing hands! :P

Now as a woman it'd be great fun using one of those..LOL

Okay, so like most urinals they'd soon be a puddle in front of each urinal, seems to be the case in every men restroom I go into.

Think I'd feel a tad uncomfortable doing it in the street like that.

I can't believe they put those right out for everyone to see! I've never heard of this before. Aren't men embarrassed to use it out in public like that?

Hope to see that in my place.

LOL! Hysterical, I guess this definitely beats peeing in an alley. Takes a pretty confident (or drunk) man to use one of these. Wonder is there will be sport made of public urinal tipping...

I wonder if there's a certain smell in the air....hehhhhe.

I never realised those could be found across europe. I thought they were just all over Amsterdam.

Never-the-less pretty dirty but convenient for guys.

ewwww.... a queue of men emptying their bladder in public! I doubt we will see this in Singapore. I'll protest.

This is crazy. It is in public and 100% visible. I wonder how women urinal in pub street looks like.

emptying your bladder in the public? There's no need for those urinals, just ask the men to piss in the bushes, like in the good old days.

That sucks lol. Instead of getting more civilized we are becoming more vulgar..Yacky isn't it lol?

gosh i dont see what all the fuss is about .. men cant win .. if we pee in doors we leave the seat up and get crucified for it .. if we pee outside .. its yuk go find a toilet and now that they have one which offers a slim bit of privacy and keeps people from peeing in alley ways lol (not sure that would work) people are still not happy .. DONT LOOK PERVERTS !!!! :)

@eastopper,
I had that experience when I was doing the SAF half-marathon. But we did it in the bushes..

So was anything provided for the ladies?

@sher,
Haha... imagine if you did your hands into... omg.

@ladybanana,
I cannot really imagine that... oh, wait...hmm...

@m,
I was seriously thinking of using one until I saw the puddle on the ground beside it. But it looks as if the container has got a huge capacity for piss...

@angel,
Er... not if I'm not facing everyone else... and if my bladder is bursting. Short answer: no. :)

@borneo,
Then you'll have to worry about clearing the piss every other day...

@rich,
Haha, I can totally imagine there is one... but it'll be conducted in one of those alleys...

@my bug life,
Er... drunk people are not exactly sensitive to smell... :)

@ecl,
You protest? Teh Gu will lia you...

@lina,
Oh yeah... the good old days... haha, when police pranced around in shorts.

@yanjiaren,
It's not too bad really. Actually, I imagine it to be rather.... liberating.

@techsta,
Haha... you hit the nail right at the head! Feeling disturbed? Don't look... and please don't snap a pic and post it up a blog!!
