London Underground - Flooding at Queensway Tube Station

Was dining with one of my friends who has just arrived in London at Bayswater area the other day when we saw that sign posted at Queensway Tube Station. Had to make our way to Lancaster Gate, which is the next station along Central Line.

Not exactly a pleasant first impression given to that friend of mine. Though I bet he enjoyed the roast duck from one of the many Chinese restaurants along Queensway.

That'll probably add to the quirks of London Underground.... it floods every now and then.

Come winter, our beloved London Tube will display her other quirk - prepare to see her beaten by snow. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23382800-details/Chaos+after+inch+of+snow/article.do

I wonder what caused it?

I used to work in Queensway many years ago - in a dental surgery..

Surely if the station is flooded, trains should not stop there at all? So why is it exit only? Hmm...

Another good reason to always carry your camera on you!

@eaststopper,
Aww... and the Great Old Dame trudges on...

Speaking of which, it's really windy this morning. Brr....

@ladybanana,
Hmm, perhaps a burst pipe? The funny thing is that it wasn't even raining that day. Perhaps sabotaged by a disgrunted tube worker who finally figured out the plumbing. :p

Is the dental surgery still there?

@feanor,
It's probably due to piping issues that affect certain corridors only. Beats me too. That's probably why Boris Johnson needs £3bn to maintain the Tube!

@emm,
Well, I didn't. Took that with my phone. :)

Haha. Decent phone then...

That's what happens when they don't provide enough toilets around! Oh.. that eternal wait for trains in the underground dungeons makes one want to Go...

@emm,
No complaints I supposed. :)

@sher,
You just can't resist that, can you? :p But come to think of it, toilet facilities are far and few in the Underground.

My wife and I stay near Queensway Station. Just tabao'ed from Tuk Tuk - good value restaurant (i.e. cheep!).

I see you are an iPhone fan?
