Singapore Day 2009 photos - London Hampton Court Palace
As promised, here are the pictures for the Singapore Day 2009 held in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace.
Signpost along the walkway to the enclosure.
Well, more flags highlighting Singapore Airlines as a sponsor. SIA flown the performers over in first class.
The infamous ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) gantry as the entrance. Apt tongue in cheek, which gives out a beep whenever someone walks through it.
'Fine' Singapore... another national emblem.
To make sure that there are enough goodie bags to go around, each visitor's right hand is stamped with red dye upon the collection of a bag. It turned out later that there were more than enough bags to go around and organizers were busy giving out the extras at the end of the event.
Gantries were set up for each food stall...
Ah... Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice was easily the most popular with the longest queue. I have to add that the portions were really generous.
One serving per person. Want another serving, rejoin the queue!
Just look at those succulent chicken... hmm...
Preparing the chicken rice to feed the hungry masses.
You must be kidding! Camouflage paint meant only one thing back then... pimples (or acne).
Does the presentation of nasi lemak remind you of something? Yep, army rations. That was brought to Singapore Day 2009 by none other than Singapore Food Industries, the same company that supplies army rations.
The prata man in action! Bring the gee on!
The giant picnic under the atypical glorious English sunny early afternoon.
Adrian Pang and Michelle Chong one of the two big screens in the enclosure ensuring entertainment while queuing for food.
The line-up of all performers for one last song "Home".
Hampton Court in full bloom

Thanks for the pix ! SIA brought the nice tropical weather with them eh !
How many food stalls were there ? What abt the display tents - anything new that we should know ?
I thought the food industries would be putting up a sale booth so that the visitors could stock up on SG yummies ?
Is Hampton Court palace a distance away from the green fields ? By the look of it, the estate is quite sprawling ?
It looked like such fun! I wish they could have still done the free event for Singapreans but then opened it up to the public the next day perhaps. I am sure ti would be popular and surely they would want to make some money back?
Lovely sunny day, very clean, well organised, looks like a great day for you there.
Nice! love the wide open fields... and the yummy food! :)
Oh that looks like a fantastic day & i am now even sadder than ever i missed it!! They better have the next one over here on the mainland of Europe - preferably in Switzerland!! ;P
i love all that tongue in cheek reminders of home - hehhehee ;)
Haha this is strange - I'm the guy in the pix (the stage one) taking a picture of my wife. It was a great day indeed with great food and weather. Thanks for documenting!
