Gill Wing cooking and kitchen accessories shop - the mini paradise for budding cooks

Though central London fared a bit better than the surrounding boroughs, the cold temperature coupled with the occasional chilly breeze made venturing further from home a rather unattractive option.

So I didn't protest much when Wife suggested heading to Gill Wing to pick up some baking accessories. Other than casual dining and fancy restaurants, Islington's Upper Street is also known for its designer furniture shops, small shops stocked with independent designer clothes and many other accessories stores.

Gill Wing, which is located closer to Highbury & Islington Station than Angel Tube station, is a mini paradise for those who prefers to whip up a storm in their kitchen to eating out. Stocked with all sorts of cooking accessories - ladles (a variety of it), baking brushes, Le Creuset pots and baking pans, graters, chopping boards, whiskers, pasta machines, motar boards, plates, aprons, just to mention a few.

I was astonished not only by the amount of merchandise Gill Wing managed to squeeze into the relatively small shop space but also there were much more men than women pouring through the offerings when I was there. For the budding Jamie Olivers and Marcus Wareings, here your shop.

Hi there,

Thanks very much for your interesting blog. It's always nice to see how people on the other side of the globe live, how they share the same joys and sorrows, what they do in their free time, etc.

I actually have a question about your blog. Would you mind helping us with a linguistic research project? We're compiling data from various Singaporean weblogs. All it requires is checking a few boxes. If you want to take part and/or have more questions, drop me a note ( hack2301@uni-trier.de RE: Question ) so that I can then send you the 'official' project eMail. We'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks very much in advance!
Best regards,
- Fran

PS: Great posts! I loved the one about the pancake race - when I first heard about that, I thought they were kidding ;-)

You have a great blog here. I like reading unique blogs like yours. I have a site myself which provides information on popular vacation destinations. I want my site to be a place where anyone from around the world can come and have that vacation spirit or "vacation feeling" as you can tell from my domain name.

I'd like to exchange links with you to help spread some traffic around between each other. Please let me know if this is possible.
